Vecchio Announces Conservative Plan to Make Home Heating Tax-Free

ST. THOMAS, ON – Karen Vecchio, Member of Parliament for Elgin-Middlesex- London, announced the next step in Andrew Scheer’s Conservative plan to help Canadians get ahead and save on their home heating and energy bills.

“In Canada, heating your home is a necessity – not a luxury,” said Karen Vecchio, MP. “Residents in Elgin-Middlesex-London are concerned with the rising cost of living specifically impacting those on a fixed income including seniors and those with disabilities.”

VECCHIO ANNOUNCES CONSERVATIVE PLAN TO MAKE HOME HEATING TAX-FREE

March 14, 2019
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

In response, Andrew Scheer, the Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, announced if elected government, will remove the Goods and Services Tax (GST) from home heating and energy bills, including electricity, natural gas, heating oil, and wood pellets to put more money back into the pockets of hard-working Canadians. This will save the average Canadian household $107 per year.

“Canadian families cannot get ahead” said Karen Vecchio, MP. “Life continues to become less affordable and soon Canadians will have the carbon tax imposed as well.”

The Liberals’ Carbon Tax will increase the cost of everyday essentials like gasoline, groceries, and home heating. That is why the first act of an Andrew Scheer government will be to scrap the carbon tax and give families relief.

“This initiative makes sense,” said Karen Vecchio, MP. “It will put more money back into the pockets of hard-working Canadians. This is yet another way a Conservative government will help all Canadians get ahead.”
