Extension of the Canada Emergency Business Account
August 31, 2020
ST. THOMAS, ON- Today, Karen Vecchio, MP for Elgin-Middlesex-London is highlighting the extension of the Canada Emergency Business Agency (CEBA).
The Government of Canada has announced that the application deadline for the Canada Emergency Business Account is extended from August 31 to October 30.
Small and medium size businesses are the backbone of the Canadian economy and have faced financial hardships due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Government of Canada has also advised that it is working in partnership with financial institutions to extend the eligibility of the Canada Emergency Business Account to businesses who qualify but, do not operate from a business banking account. More details on these modifications are set to be released in the coming days, as well as a new business account opening process where qualified business will be able to submit their application.
“My office has heard from many small businesses that have faced major economic challenges throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. My colleagues and I have been urging the Government of Canada to extend the Canada Emergency Business Account and open these applications to qualified businesses that are using personal banking accounts.” stated Vecchio.
“I hope that this necessary extension will bring relief to businesses that have been unfairly excluded from the CEBA program for the past 5 months.”
