Canada Summer Jobs Program Accepting Applications

December 13, 2018

St. Thomas, ON – Karen Vecchio, Member of Parliament for Elgin-Middlesex-London and Shadow Minister for Families, Children and Social Development is proud to announce that the application period for Canada Summer Jobs 219 will be launched on December 17, 2018 and will be open until January 25, 2019.
Canada Summer Jobs funding provides wage aids to employers from the not-for-profit, public, and private sectors to create quality summer work experiences for young people. In delivering on these objectives, the Government of Canada seeks to ensure that quality job placements occur in inclusive, safe and respectful work environments.
The Government of Canada has made changes to the Canada Summer Jobs application for 2019. These changes include revised the employee eligibility to include all youth aged 15 to 30 to provide opportunities to many young Canadians, instead of restricting eligibility to students. In addition, the government eliminated their Values Test Attestation that was present in the 2018 application.
Applicants are encouraged to reference the eligibility requirements as they relate to employers, positions and job activities, to ensure they meet the Terms of Funding offered by the government.
“Canada Summer Jobs helps local employers create summer job openings for youth in their communities and gain valuable work experience related to many different sectors,” said Vecchio. “I look forward to meeting many of the students who will be employed through this program, and will continue to lend it my support.”
